Owner-designed house, capitalizing on a panoramic view of the ocean in a unique coastal forest setting. A large entry-way leads into a spacious great room with view over the outdoor deck to the ocean. Custom maple cabinets and granite countertops complement the stainless appliances in the open plan kitchen. A Port Orford Cedar ceiling, Douglas fir trim and doors draw in the wood from the outside. An ash hardwood floor covers the common areas with carpet in the bedrooms and ceramic tile in the bathrooms, utility and entry.
The exterior siding is red cedar shingles, vinyl windows and Anderson doors. The natural rise of the site made it easy to place the house atop a 1500 sq ft garage, storage and office space. An outdoor shower facing to the west allows easy clean up for both man and beast upon return from the day’s outdoor activities.

The owners decided on a natural shingle finish to the home and outbuildings so as to better blend into the surrounding forested landscape. The use of natural materials continues on the inside, where the Brazilian teak wood floors and granite work spaces combine with tile accents to give an elegant and contemporary feel. A Nicaraguan custom-made door adds a nice touch to the front rural aspect.
